Brahma Samaj was founded by Raja Ram Mohan Roy in 1828 at Culcutta.
He was born in Radhanagar in Bengal in 1774
In 1825 he started Vendanta College.
He founded Atmiya Sabha to propagate his monotheistic doctrine.
The title of Raja was conferred upon him by Akbar Shah II, the Mugal Emperor
He is known as the “Father of Indian Renaissance” and the “Prophet of Indian Nationalism”
First to translate Bhagavat Gita to Bengali is Raja Ram Mohan Roy.
His literary works are Tuhafat-Ul-Muwahidin , Manazarutul Adyan, Percepts of Jesus etc.
In 1822 he founded Anglo Hindu School and Vedanta College in 1825.
Ram Mohan was the First and one of the greatest champions of emancipation of Indian Women.
