Annie Besant was born at Clap ham in England.
Her Real name was Annie Wood.
She was Irish by birth, but she became a staunch supporter of India’s freedom struggle.
She is known as the ‘Grand Old Lady of Indian Nationalism’.
She translated Bhagavad Gita into English.

In 1914 Annie Besant joined the INC and became the President in Calcutta session 1917.
Annie Besant started a weekly named ‘Common Weal’
She died on 20th September 1933.
