• Fullname: Elamkulam Manakkal Sankaran Namboodiripad.
• Born on 13 June 1909
• Father: Parameswaran Namboodirippad.
• On 5 April 1957 he was appointed as the first chief minister of Kerala.
• Served as the first Chief Minister of Kerala state in 1957–59 and then again in 1967–69.
• He became the first non-Indian National Congress chief minister in the Indian republic.
• First Chief Minister of Kerala who lost power through article 356 following "The Liberation Struggle"
• E M S was elected from Neeleswaram (Kasargode).
