Find the angle between hour hand and minute hand

Q1. What is the angle between the needles when the time is 7.25?

Ans:

The time given 7.25

We need to find the angle between hour hand and minute hand.

Here we need to find the angle between 7h & 25m.

In our traditional analog clock integer  5 represents 25.

Now find out the difference between 7 and 5.

7 - 5 =2

Now multiply this difference with 30A = 2 X 30 = 60

Now divide the minutes by 2 , B = 25 / 2 = 12.5

NOTE: If number that represents HOUR is LESS THAN  that of  MINUTE.Find the A-B between the two numbers.Else find the A + B.

ie; Here 7 > 5, so the angle between hour hand and minute hand is 60 + 12.5 = 72.5

Q2. What is the angle between the needles when the time is 3.20?

Ans:

The time given 3.20

3 - 4 = 1

1 X 30 = 30

30 - (20/2) = 30 - 10 = 20

So the angle between hour hand and minute hand is 20.

Q3. What is the angle between the needles when the time is 4.30?

Ans:

The time given  4.30

4 - 6 = 2

2 X 30 = 60

60 - (30/2) = 45

So the angle between hour hand and minute hand is 45.

Q4. What is the angle between the needles when the time is 5.15?

Ans:

The time given 5.15

5 - 3 = 2

2 X 30 = 60

60 + (15/2) = 67.5

So the angle between hour hand and minute hand is 67.5

Q5. What is the angle between the needles when the time is 7.40?

Ans:

The time given 7.40

7 - 8 = 1

1 X 30 = 30

30 - (40/2) = 10

So the angle between hour hand and minute hand is 10

Q6. What is the angle between the needles when the time is 7.40?

Ans:

The time given 12.5

12 - 1 = 11

11 X 30 = 330

330 + (5/2) = 332.5

NOTE:Here the angle we found is greater than 180(Reflex Angle).So subtract the obtained answer from 360 to get the original angle between the needles .

ie; Here the angle between hour hand and minute hand is 360 - 332.5 = 27.5
